Storage Unit Prices in Barcelona by Size, 2026
What Barcelona storage operators publish for 1 to 10 m2 units in 2026, independent estimates from OCU and others, and what VAT, insurance and pickup add.
The short answer
Published 2026 prices put a 1 m² unit in Barcelona at about €35 to €55 a month, 3 m² at €85 to €140 and 9 to 10 m² at €160 to €250, with some operators quoting before 21% VAT. OCU's May 2026 comparison found private owners asking about 42 euros per m² (168 euros for 4 m²), against a promotional 86 euros for 4 m² at one operator.
You search for a storage unit in Barcelona and every site says "from 35 euros". The next page asks you to call for a quote, the one after quotes without VAT, and a classified ad wants 168 euros for a few square metres. You still cannot tell whether 85 euros for 3 m² is a good price. This guide puts the 2026 prices that operators publish next to independent estimates, shows what changes the bill and tells you what to ask. Prices are published figures, not quotes, and they change. Some of the operators named in this guide are listed in our directory. A listing is not a ranking or an endorsement and does not change any figure here, and every price below comes from the operator's own page or a named independent source.
How much does a storage unit cost in Barcelona in 2026?
- 1 m²: €35 to €55 a month.
- 2 m²: €55 to €85 a month.
- 3 m²: €85 to €140 a month.
- 5 m²: €85 to €130 a month.
- 6 to 8 m²: €120 to €230 a month.

The ranges overlap because operators measure and bundle differently, and the sources disagree at the top end. Our storage unit price page lets you check a quote against each range.
What do Barcelona operators publish?
- Box2Box (Eixample listing, autumn 2026 promotion): a 1 m x 1 m locker 45 euros, 2 m² 66, 3 m² 85, 4 m² 105, 5 m² 125, 6 m² 139, 7.5 m² 174 and 9 m² 205 euros a month. The page says insurance is included and there is no minimum commitment, and it does not say whether VAT is included. Pickup is free for smaller units and charged for larger ones, from 35 euros at 4 m² to 119 euros at 9 m². The page also contradicts itself on whether the free pickup limit is in m² or m³.
- Central Trasteros: small (0.8 to 1.5 m²) from 45 euros, medium (1.6 to 2.5 m²) from 75 and large (2.5 to 4 m²) from 120 a month, with no fixed commitment and access every day, at four sites. The page does not say whether prices include VAT.
- Zebrabox: an extra-small unit of about 2 to 2.5 m² in Eixample from 118.81 euros a month, rentable from one week, with a 15% discount for a year.
- CABE Trasteros: a starting price of 35 euros at its Villarroel site, with insurance included for contents up to 500 euros per m². The page does not give prices by size, and it carries a 2023 copyright, so check it.
- Bluespace and OhMyBox!: prices on quote. Bluespace advertises a first month for 1 euro and up to 20% off, and OCU recorded a promotional 86 euros for 4 m² at Bluespace in Barcelona.
What do independent sources say?
- OCU (12 May 2026): private rentals in Barcelona averaged 42 euros per m² (168 euros for 4 m²), the highest of its four cities, and renting a larger unit is cheaper per square metre than a small one. It notes that private owners usually offer no insurance.
- Trastis, an operator, in a 13 April 2026 guide with prices excluding 21% VAT: 35 to 55 euros for 1 to 1.5 m², 55 to 85 for 2 to 3 m², 85 to 130 for 4 to 5 m², 120 to 170 for 6 to 7 m² and 160 to 230 for 8 to 10 m² in Madrid or Barcelona.
- Habitissimo (updated 16 September 2026): 8 to 25 euros per m² in Barcelona, about 35 euros for the smallest units and about 200 euros for 10 m² or more. Its own figures conflict for 5 m², so treat them as estimates.
- Spain Handbook (May 2026): 35 to 55 euros for 1 m², 90 to 140 for 3 to 4 m², 160 to 230 for 6 to 8 m² and 250 or more for 10 m² or more in Madrid and Barcelona, with a text that gives a different 1 m² range of 30 to 50 euros.
Why does the same size cost so differently?
- Location: central districts cost more, and the smallest units cost most per square metre.
- VAT: some operators quote before 21% VAT, so a 100 euro price can become 121 euros.
- Insurance: included at some operators, an add-on at others.
- Pickup: door-to-door models charge by unit size, while self-service sites do not.
- Term and promotions: first-month offers and discounts for six or twelve months change the real cost after the first invoice.
- Floor: ground-floor units can cost more than upper floors, according to Habitissimo.
What extra costs should I add?
VAT if it is not included, insurance of about €4 to €10 a month where it is not bundled according to Spain Handbook, and a deposit of one month's rent if the operator asks for one. Box2Box's page both mentions a small deposit discounted from the first invoice and says there are no deposits, so ask. Also add pickup fees, a padlock and boxes. Our contract guide covers deposits, notice and insurance in detail.
Should I rent from an operator or a private owner?
Compare price per square metre, insurance and flexibility. OCU's figures put private rentals at about 42 euros per m² in Barcelona against promotional operator prices around 21 euros per m² for 4 m², and note that private owners typically give no insurance and that terms are agreed freely, so put everything in writing and visit the building. This is our arithmetic from OCU's 4 m² examples, and promotions end, so check the price after the offer. A private trastero in your own building can still make sense for a long stay.
